Community Parent Education Program (COPE)

COPE Spring 2019.

This course is offered completely free of charge.

The course uses videos, discussions, and skill-building exercises. With guidance from group leaders, parents  work together on solutions to parenting challenges, and share ideas.  Parents are encouraged to try out the different suggestions and strategies at home between sessions.

Is this course for me?

If you are the parent of 3-6 year old child, and you wish to develop strong, positive parenting skills, the answer is Yes. This course is designed for a parents who wish to learn about positive behaviour management strategies, encourage cooperation and good relationships with children, avoid conflict and meet other parents with similar challenges.

What will the course offer?

The course runs once a week for 10 weeks.  Each session is an hour and half long. The course uses videos, discussions, and skill-building exercises. With guidance from group leaders, parents, work together on solutions to parenting challenges, and share ideas. Parents are encouraged to try out the different suggestions and strategies at home between sessions.

At the end of the course, you will receive a “Certificate of Completion” for your participation.

What if I miss a session?

Each Session builds on the previous session so it is important to attend all sessions. Please speak to one of the leaders if you need to miss a session.

Is there anything else I need to know?

Due to the nature of the group, parents must be caring for their children to register.

Parenting or child assessments are not provided through this course.
