Children are individuals. They develop at their own pace and in their own way. “Early brain development sets the foundation for lifelong learning, behavior and health.” (Mustard, 2006). Research supports responding early to concerns so the child has the best chance to reach his/her potential. Children from birth to six are developing some key foundational skills that they will need to be healthy and active as well as to support their learning. Babies arrive ready to form relationships and engage with the world around them. If something is impeding their ability to do so, acting early can make a difference.
