Programs and Services

Children First is an accredited Children's Mental Health Centre specializing in services for families with children from birth to age six who have developmental and/or mental health challenges which may be multiple and complex. We are a community based non-profit agency governed by a voluntary Board of Directors. We serve families throughout Windsor and Essex County with core funding from the Ministry of Children and Youth Services, and the City of Windsor.

What we do

Through our partnerships with families, an individualized family support plan is developed that builds on family strengths in an effort to respond to the needs presented. We work together with families to identify services that may include:

• Consultation
• Treatment
• Education
• Support
• Advocacy

Our staff

Services to families are supported by our skilled staff who have expertise relevent to child development, behaviour and early intervention. Qualified and experienced staff include:

• Resource Consultants
• Speech and Language Pathologists
• Physiotherapists
• Occupational Therapists
• Psychologists
• Social Workers

Referral Sources

Children First welcomes referrals from a variety of sources including parents, child care providers, teachers, medical practitioners and other community service providers.
