Job Information

Key Qualifications:

Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution as well as an Early Childhood Resource Teacher Certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience that may include an undergraduate degree in a related health, education, or social service field or community college diploma such as Child and Youth Worker or Developmental Services Worker.

  • Experience working with children from birth to age six, including those with developmental delays and psychosocial challenges
  • Knowledge of behaviour guidance principles and family systems issues
  • Understanding of family-centered principles and ability to work effectively with parents/caregivers
  • Experience working with children with behavior challenges and providing consultation to their families
  • For Resource Consultants on a Child Care team, experience in licensed child care
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in French is considered an asset

Title Occupational Therapist, One Year Contract
Job Information

The Occupational Therapist provides family centered occupational therapy services, including assessment, treatment and program planning to children with special needs and their families in their homes and/or in their preschools.

 Qualifications:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
  • Ability to understand and acknowledge family as the primary force in a child’s life.
  • Ability to function independently in a transdisciplinary setting.
  • Capacity to function with community partners (i.e., preschools).
  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
  • Professional competency as a general practitioner of occupational therapy as defined by CAOT to include the successful completion of CAOT Certification Examination and demonstrates independence in the use of varied treatment approaches.
  • Licensed with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
